Perfection is rarely popular while everything still works. It is appreciated only when the temporary solution catches fire. Beforehand people say: “That is exaggerated,” “It need not be so precise,” or “It has always worked.” Afterwards they suddenly ask: “Can you take a quick look?”
Then supposed pedantry becomes experience, order becomes rescue and caution becomes competence. People love prevention about as much as tax forms. Only when the battery burns out, the server delivers the wrong pages or the pool robot sinks in protest do they ask why nobody planned more carefully.
The difference is simple: a makeshift solution hopes. A system thinks ahead. Electricity, water, websites, domains, solar power, fuses, caches and folder structures seem fussy until they prevent disaster. The Ark is built before the flood. Afterwards, timber is hard to obtain.
Sometimes the perfectionist meets resistance not because he is wrong, but because he is right too early. He sees the weak link before the chain breaks and asks about safeguards, reserves and fallback plans while others still say: “It will be fine.”
Whoever points out a problem early brings more than a technical message. He also reveals that someone was not careful enough, ignored something or disguised convenience as experience. Then the error is not attacked. The messenger is.
The perfectionist is not punished for being wrong. He is punished for destroying the excuse too early.
