If You Like It, Change Yourself

Changing the world sounds magnificent. It becomes harder when something inside your own head has to move first.

If you like it, change yourself before repairing the world.

Everyone wants to change the world. Nobody wants to move the most comfortable chair in their own head.

Gandhi said we must be the change we wish to see in the world. It sounds good.

In practice, however, it means forcing your inner weakling to do yoga, smiling kindly at your own stupidity and stopping blaming everything outside your own skin.

The world is only a mirror. If it looks ugly out there, the fingerprints are usually on your own glasses.

Anyone who wants to improve the world without changing themselves is like someone dancing in the rain and complaining about getting wet. Gandhi was right, but he did not know social media. Otherwise he might have added:

“Clear your ego cache from time to time, or you will walk through life with outdated software.”
